First… being the greedy free market capitalist that I am. The moment I heard about Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo. I wanted to buy some core stock that I could keep around forever to watch it grow and grow and grow. Yeah… I missed out on some winners in the last year and I still have a hard time dealing with that.

The thing I find amazing though is the idea that Google claims that Microsoft will monopolize the internet with the purchase of Yahoo. Google pointing the finger about internet monopoly. Now that’s a Pot calling the Kettle “Black” moment if I’ve ever heard one.

I actually couldn’t be happier and consider it due come-uppance after losing a PageRanking of PR5 to PR4 to PR ZERO. And that’s the underlying reason I think Google was unfair to PayPerPost participants. Question: What makes participating in PayPerPost any different than Google AdSense? That’s right . . . Google. Google sponsorship. Google’s corporate blessings. So . . . I feel quite happy as a good Free Market Capitalist to take advantage of google’s core internet services — while I let them mine my data… because, after all, nothing is free — while their stock slowly begins to slip as the market corrects and turns against them. Maybe the dragon has bitten off a little more than it can swallow.

Yeah, I should probably be a bit more irritated that they help Chinese jail dissidents for attempting to exercise their natural right of free speech – who said I wasn’t? I’ve written extensively about that on my previous blog – but Google also hit me in the pocket book, and being the gfmc that I am, I have NO problem whatsoever delighting in – nay, taking financial advantage of, for however long - this momentous and significant turn of events.

Mainstream Media would never say so, but i’ve read on lots of other blogs where people are discovering new and old search engines just to find out upon research, statistically, MSN Live has a higher accuracy rate for searches than Google anyway. 

Anyway, I digress. . . in their pursuit for market dominance and forcing the little guys to abandon PayPerPost by taking the one thing away that brings the little guys profit – PageRank – Google takes a market hit. And now Google, who sought to monopolize search ad revenue finds itself in quite the pickle as they begin to cry “Foul!”  – It’s a beautiful thing.
